Will start with one of my favorites...

I have lived on the lip of insanity,

wanting to know reasons,
knocking on a door.
It opens.
I’ve been knocking from the inside!

Inspirational Quotes and Poems by Rumi

Quoting a few more from there...

Keep walking, though there’s no place to get to.
Don’t try to see through the distances.
That’s not for human beings. Move within,
But don’t move the way fear makes you move.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You’ve no idea how hard I’ve looked for a gift to bring You.
Nothing seemed right.
What’s the point of bringing gold to the gold mine, or water to the Ocean.
Everything I came up with was like taking spices to the Orient.
It’s no good giving my heart and my soul because you already have these.
So- I’ve brought you a mirror.
Look at yourself and remember me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“Through your love
existence and nonexistence merge.
All opposites unite.
All that is profane
becomes sacred again.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Oh Beloved,
take me.
Liberate my soul.
Fill me with your love and
release me from the two worlds.
If I set my heart on anything but you
let fire burn me from inside.
Oh Beloved,
take away what I want.
Take away what I do.
Take away what I need.
Take away everything
that takes me from you.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A lot of people know the beginning of this one (from Rumi) ... but I find the entire quote to be very profound.

"Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right doing,
there is a field. I will meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about

Language, ideas, even the phrase each other
doesn't make any sense."

One that speaks especially to me is -

QUIETNESS

Inside this new love, die.
Your way begins on the other side.
Become the sky. Take an axe to the prision wall.
Escape.
Walk out like someone suddenly born into colour.
Do it now.
You're colvered with thick cloud.
Slide out the side.  Die,
and be quiet.  Quietness is the surest sign
that you've died.
You're old life was a frantic running
from silence.

The speechless full moon
comes out now.

From BIRDSONG INSIDE THE EGG

Like the ground turning green in a spring wind.
Like birdsong beginning inside the egg.

Like this universe coming into existence,
the lover wakes, and whirls in a dancing joy

then kneels down
in praise.

Another favourite, that I had written on a card on my mantlepiece when i lived at the Findhorn community, in Scotland.

From NO ROOM FOR FORM

And don't look for me in a human shape.
I am inside your looking. No room
for form with love this strong.

Rumi, translated by Coleman Barks
